Paying for Care
Most older adults, unless they have had help over their lifetime, are reluctant to spend money on these services. Failing to do so can cascade into others thinking that the individual cannot live in their own home any longer independently. This is why home care is something that should be put in place to, not only to keep the person safe and healthy, but to enhance a person’s enjoyment of the life that they have worked so hard for.
Selecting the right care is important and you want to ensure it’s the best fit and value for each special situation.
Seniors and their families may have several choices when it comes to paying for home care. Finding the right options to pay for your loved one’s care starts with determining the type of care they need.
A comprehensive assessment is usually conducted to determine the type and amount of services a senior requires to meet their unique needs.
Today, you may be able to take advantage of many programs to make personalized in-home care a reality for yourself or for your family. We recommend you look at the following options to review if any can work for you.
- Medicaid waiver
- Veterans (VA) assistance
- Long-term care insurance
- Private pay

“In dealing with not just one, but both my parents having dementia, I was at a loss as to what to do with them. When I reached out for help, and found Compassionate Home Care, the RN was a dedicated and caring person, and assisted me with all aspects of cares. She took us through the journey of activities of daily living, to hospice, until their end of life. My parents journey lasted four years for my father, and five years for my mother. That woman was there through it all! Our family was very blessed to have met such an invested and loving home health care caregiver."

After 16 years of working in nursing homes and assisted livings as a CNA, Jan recognized a desperation in her clients’ eyes that told her they just wanted to go home. She had met so many people who strongly desired to stay in their homes to continue to live as independently as possible. In 2016, Jan placed her faith and prayers in God to guide her path in serving others, and Compassionate Home Care became the journey that God paved the way for.
